The location is absolutely fantastic and you can't ask for better
The room is very large but quite dated and feels worn out . There is no air conditioning, and although the windows open, the windy day noise was quite loud.
The shower is quite old fashioned and I would prefer something with more shelves for own toiletries, speaking of which, would be great to see the refillable bottled with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel , instead of soft packaged shampoo and single use soap.
The staff however are A++ , fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable.
We considered having breakfast buffet, but when we saw it, we opted out as it's very very basic compared to most other buffet breakfasts in the same price range.

Great location — that’s the only positive.
No air con and the windows barely open, so the room was uncomfortable. The bed was extremely lumpy and honestly one of the worst we’ve slept on — my back is still paying for it. The room is very tired and badly needs updating. The shower constantly went from hot to cold, taps leaked, and the road/city noise was terrible. We barely slept.
To top it off, at checkout no one even asked how our stay was. Wouldn’t stay again.

Staff at the Bay Plaza Hotel were very friendly and hospitable. Location is fantastic, everything is in walking distance. Great view too, just like the pictures. I had no problems at all with my room. Next time I am in Wellington I would like to stay here.

I had a wonderful stay at The Bay Plaza Hotel. The hotel is perfectly located with beautiful harbour-facing views. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with attached bathrooms and useful amenities such as an iron and tea/coffee facilities. One small improvement I would suggest is adding complimentary bottled water in the rooms.
We booked through Booking.com, and the price was very reasonable for the quality and location. The ladies at the reception were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful with everything we needed, which made our stay even more pleasant.
The views from Room 806 and 906 were absolutely mesmerising and truly a highlight of our visit.
Highly recommended for a comfortable stay with great views and excellent service.

Although some people might have different experiences, I liked this hotel. Fantastic view, clean and one of the best showers for tall people I’ve ever had in a hotel. And this all from 5 min walking to te Papa museum.
Yes, the bathroom could be modernised and the windows can’t always keep the wind outside but I think it is the price/quality certainly worth.
